TEFL Training Courses in Europe, Asia, Latin America and New York City:

A TEFL Certificate gives you Independence and Flexibility - You decide where you live and where you work.

What Is TEFL, TESOL and CELTA? These all mean teaching English:

TEFL = Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (a term typically used in non-English speaking places where English is a foreign language)

TESOL = Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (a term typically used in English speaking places where there are people who are learning English as a Second language)

CELTA = Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (this term is the Cambridge Exam Board "brand name" for a TEFL course that trains people to teach adults English)

You can be hired with any 4-week course listed above.

Employers are most interested in the fact that you have the practical teaching experience from a 120+ hour course, not the name brand on the paper. Weekend and Online courses typically do not offer the 6-8 hours of real classroom experience, observed by a TEFL course tutor.

Recent TEFL Grads, (twins Chloe & Elise) check in:

Since graduation, we’ve been working for various agencies that set us up with private students of all ages. I’ve really enjoyed working in a one-to-one environment. I’ve really gotten to know my students and built great relationships.

Barcelona itself is incredible. We can’t believe we live in a city with one-of-a-kind architecture, the beach, incredible culture, and something new every day! I love having the opportunity to practice and improve my Spanish, and I love meeting new friends from all over the world.

How TEFL / TESOL / CELTA works:

You decide where to go! 4 week training courses are offered in many exciting locations around the world. During the 4 weeks you enjoy the city and complete the coursework which includes real English classes daily. You teach and observe these classes each day.  Housing is available at each location.

You decide where to work! After the course you can either stay in that city/country or return home or go elsewhere and start teaching. You will interview with language schools (employers) and get offers for a teaching schedule or blocks of hours. You can work for any number of employers. The TEFL course is not an employer. They train you and offer job guidance and help you find teaching work.

You decide how long you stay! You can teach for as long or short as you want. This arrangement is between you and the employer. The employers typically want you to teach for the academic year, so the students have the same teacher for a complete session. The academic year is generally from September to June in the northern hemisphere and March to November in the southern hemisphere. You can start teaching at any point along the way. During the summer, there are teaching opportunities with language camps (teens).

Jobs available year-round, through an international network of employers, recruiters and alumni. Jobs in Asia can be pre-arranged if you are a native English speaker, have a university level degree and can commit to a 9-12 month contract.

4 week TESOL course in New York City:

The training center is located in Midtown Manhattan, steps away from world famous Times Square, the heart of the Big Apple.  Trainees can expect access to computers, Internet, a printer, a copy machine, a coffee machine, and TV/DVD media players.  Each training class has about 10 Trainees, usually multinational. You get the attention you expect in an intensive TESOL training program.   With experienced, highly qualified Trainers, you will quickly progress from initial theory to practical teaching. Because of the number of real English classes taught throughout the 4 weeks,  you will become comfortable with entering a classroom and lesson planning in a very short time. Daily individual and group evaluations give you the necessary feedback to improve teaching performance.  Housing is available in shared flats and home stays.

Practice English classes for our TEFL trainees consist of multinational working adults. These English language learners (ELL) come to the institute from Latin America and Europe and speak varying levels of English. There are also advanced English classes available for teaching practice. Our ESL students usually get attached to our Trainees and don't like to see them leave after the four-week training is completed.
