The Barcelona, Spain TEFL Training Facility:
Barcelona has long been a favourite place for travelers looking for a cosmopolitan Spanish city on the Mediterranean Sea. Just 2 hours from the France border, Barcelona is the heart of Catalunya. The traditions, language and culture of Catalans make it a fun and exciting city to spend time while doing a course. The various districts of Barcelona create a patchwork of unique places to explore, including the grandeur of L´Eixample, multicultural Gracia, the old fishing port of Barceloneta, the Olympic Port and of course the old town neighborhoods of Bario Gotico and Las Ramblas.
The Barcelona TEFL International School is located at Calle Rocafort 104, situated in the Escola Mediterrani building close to Plaça España and the Universitat. The nearest metro station is Rocafort which is just a 2 minute walk away. There are also regular buses and night buses which run along the main Gran Via.
The area the school is in is lively and safe. A real 'neighbourhood' with plenty of reasonable bars and restaurants. It is a very multicultural part of the city. Within 5 minutes walk of the school there are Peruvian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese Mexican and Organic Vegetarian restaurants and of course many other Spanish and Catalan bars.
TEFL International in Barcelona has rooms in The University of Tourism. This means that you will be studying in a vibrant University environment surrounded by Barcelona students. TEFL International trainees have access to all the facilities of the university. There is a wonderful new library for quiet study, access to more than 300 computers and wireless internet connection on all floors. On the 8th floor, at the top of the building there is a roof top terrace where you can relax in the sunshine and enjoy the fabulous views over the rooftops of Barcelona. Also on the 8th floor there is a café area with vending machines and microwave.

*Festival Courses: In Barcelona, the Festa Major de Gracia is celebrated one week in August, the 15th being the main celebration day. On September 25, Barcelona celebrates La Merce, the largest city wide festival complete with fireworks and parades lasting almost 3 days.
These courses are very popular and fill up so we recommend applying 6 months or more in advance!
Housing in Barcelona: starting at 450 Euros
I. Shared Flats
Accommodation in Barcelona will consist of a room in a shared flat. We put one or two students, according to how many bedrooms are available, with one or two other people who are already living in an apartment. You always get your own room, your own keys to come and go as you please and use of communal living space. This means you can cook and live life as a Barcelona local. We use apartments with various nationalities, Spanish, Catalan, Finnish, Italian, and UK/English are some examples.
These are not families, we do not do family housing. They are generally either foreigners who live and work in Barcelona or Spanish/Catalan people with their own apartments. In most cases they are young people and it is just a flat share. For us it has worked wonderfully well and students have been happy with this arrangement. Often the apartments are close to other class member's apartments. It means you have somewhere that is more of a home to live in. Our apartments are of a good local standard. They are clean, comfortable and adequately furnished. A lot of these stays result in lasting friendships being made and a basis for networking. Obviously you also have the advantage of getting all the local tips from your hosts. You will always be close to a metro stop and metro travel is cheap in Barcelona.
Accommodation costs 450 euros for the duration of the course. This is the Saturday before the course starts until the Friday (inclusive) when the course finishes. Extra nights are charged at 20 euros per night.
The price for a couple sharing a double room and double bed is 700 euros for the room for the same duration. Extra nights are 30 euros per couple. Once your place on a course has been reserved we will contact you to make all the arrangements for your accommodation and arrival with you directly.
II. Arranging Accommodation Yourself
Trainees are free to arrange their own accommodation and there is a lot of information available on the Internet. If we can help in any way, by making reservations, paying deposits or so on, we will be happy to do so. The most popular message board and website for finding rooms and flats in various cities in Spain is www.loquo.com. Locals use this for housing, language exchange, buying and selling most anything.
Taxi from the Airport to the city centre is approx 35-50 Euro. Aerobus shuttle goes directly to Plaza Catalunya for 10 Euro. RENFE Train goes to Plaza Espana or Plaza Catalunya for about 10 Euro.
The main airport in Barcelona is about a 30 minute drive to the city centre. The local staff can arrange a pick up for you at an additional cost. Accommodation is usually available from the Wednesday to the Saturday prior to the course start date.
Seville (Sevilla)
We offer an intensive 4 week CELTA course at a beautiful central location, CLIC International House on Calle Albareda 19, the perfect place to attend your training each day. The training centre is located in one of the most typical and lively of Seville's neighborhoods. The school is equipped with computers (with internet access), multimedia players as well as a resource area with EFL course books and materials to help with creating your own interesting and entertaining teaching materials.
Seville and Andalusia have long been a major attraction for teaching English. Now you can complete the CELTA certificate course at our training centre in Seville, the fourth largest city in Spain. The capital of the famous Andalusian region, Seville combines the old and the new, the Moorish and the Christian in a spectacular manner. But beyond the wonderful architecture, the Alcazares, the churches, convents and monasteries, the Cathedral with its "Giralda" tower that still dominates the Sevillian skyline. Part of its treasure includes Casa de Pilatos, the Town Hall, Archive of the Indies (where the historical records of the American continent are kept), the Fine Arts Museum (the second largest picture gallery in Spain).

TEFL Trainees may stay on in CLIC accommodation for a further week at the end of the course to enjoy the world famous “Semana Santa”. This is a unique opportunity to undertake the teacher training course plus experience one of the most anticipated events in the Spanish calendar. “Puente” Holiday Course - November 21, 2011:
Trainees have the chance to enjoy a four day long weekend at the end of week two of the course, to do their Christmas shopping and see the sights.
Housing in Seville: starting at 520 Euros
The March and May training courses offer an optional extra week for the Semana Santa and Feria de Abril. This will give you the opportunity to enjoy some of the most popular celebrations that Andalucia has to offer. This is a peak tourist time of year in Sevilla and therefore all housing must be paid and booked in advance to reserve your room. The home stay option may not available for this course, please inquire.
The November course offers a 4 day holiday weekend for Christmas shopping. This course will end on Tuesday and therefore the 5 weeks housing is 650 Euros.
I. Shared Flats
These are easily accessible on foot or by public transport, travelling time to and from the school is no more than thirty minutes. Flats are fully functional and well equipped to European standards. You will have your own room (unless you request to share/double) and usually other trainees or local international students as flatmates. The flats include a kitchen (with grill or microwave oven), a fully-equipped bathroom and WC. Bedrooms are furnished with a single or double bed, chair, clothes-closet and bedside table. Some rooms include study desks or there are common study areas. There are also other essential household items and in most cases a washing machine, but dryers are rare. Blankets and sheets are provided, but bath towels are not. Flatmates will determine the smoking rules.
Your accommodation is available from the Saturday before the first day of the course to the Saturday after the last day of the course. We can often allow trainees to move into the accommodation a few days early, or stay a few days after, but we cannot guarantee it. Extra nights are priced at 20 (single) -30 (double) Euro and are based on availability. If you would like to know if you can arrive early or leave later please ask before you make any travel plans and we will confirm availability in writing. If you choose to arrive before the available dates you will have to make hostel or hotel reservations for your first night(s) in Seville.
II. Family Home Stay
If you are interested in immersing yourself more in the culture and possibly improving your Spanish during your CELTA course in Seville then this may appeal to you. The basic 4 week half board includes bedroom, breakfast and one meal, either lunch or dinner. You can if you wish stay in school accommodation ( see 1 above ) for the duration of your CELTA course and then move into Homestay accommodation if you wish to combine it with a Spanish course.
Because of the popularity of Semana Santa and Feria de Abril fesitivals, when over a million people converge on the city, the price of accommodation rockets at these times. We cannot guarantee that the Spanish homestay option will be available at affordable prices for courses at these times - although the school apartments are available.
III. Arranging Accommodation Yourself
Of course, trainees are free to arrange their own accommodation and there is a lot of information available on the Internet. We encourage you to arrange something for yourself especially if you're planning to stay longer term. If we can help in any way, by making reservations, paying deposits or so on, we will be happy to do so.
Madrid (summer only)
The Capital of Spain is one of the most comfortable and cosmopolitan cities in the world, well-known as the liveliest in Europe. It is located in the birthplace of the Spanish Language, Castellan. Madrid also hosts several of the most important collections of art in the world. This intensive 4 week CELTA course is at a beautiful central location, International House on Calle Zurbano 8, the perfect place to attend your training each day. Living in Madrid means being connected to the vibrant and glamour of the largest metropolis in the South of Europe, surrounded by a wealth of historical, cultural and artistic treasures.
