Some notes from previous trainees:
Joe - University of Pennsylvania
Hey Kevin, I hope things are going well in BCN. I still look back fondly on my time there. Anyway, I am working as the general director of a new school in Moscow. My hope is to use my experience from teaching at different places to make it a very teacher-friendly environment. We also want to have a really top-notch staff (native speakers with TEFL /university degrees), so we will offer very good conditions (more than $1,700 a month, a free apartment, visa support, academic development, help acclimatizing to Russia, etc). Russia does not get as much attention as China or Korea, but there is nowhere else on earth where you can earn as much money teaching English as in Moscow. Thanks, Joe
Jen - Director, Barcelona TEFL Teachers Association (Barcelona Europe TEFL Graduate)
I was in the August Barcelona TEFL course with Jen and Lawerence this past summer. I loved the program in Barcelona as well as having Jen and Lawerence as instructors. Before moving to Spain, I got my BS in Elementary and Early Ed. in the States, but I still learned SO MUCH through the course about teaching strategies, methods and implementation. After the course finished, I taught all last year, October to the end of July at an English Academy in Vilanova i la Geltru.
Sophie – Brighton, England
Contrary to my expectations and original plans, I’m now in Japan, and yesterday got a part time job teaching English with a small school called One-Up. I think the TEFL course in Barcelona was really great, very well organised and integrated, and run by fantastic people. I think you guys really made it, although the content of the course was superb as well. The social occasions that spawned out of it, and the effort you made to help us feel comfortable was also great. I have a lot of happy memories from Barcelona thanks to you guys... and, of course, our English students!
Patrick – Sous Chef from Sonoma, California
Well, as you know I'm now in Mexico. I can't say enough about how much fun I had in Barcelona. The entire experience was great, eased the culture shock and gave me something fun to do for a month. The course definitely helped prepare me to be a teacher and I think the best part of the TEFL experience was living and working in such an amazing city like Barcelona. While I was there I worked for Kingsbrook Language School and a company called Centro Asimilar. I have nothing but good things to say about Europe TEFL and hanks again for everything.
Are you new to the English teaching scene in Barcelona? The Barcelona TEFL Teachers Association (BTTA) has been helping teachers find their way for over two years. Come to one of our many events to meet and network with other teachers in the area: swap ideas for lesson plans, find out which schools are hiring or who has an extra room to rent out. We've hosted Welcome events for new TEFL courses, Spanish Immersion Nights, Book Exchanges and more.
